Each reflection consists of two parts: Finding Y our Roots worksheet and Voices of Freedom response. You will submit both parts in one document (Word file). Finding Y our Roots Worksheet: The PBS show Finding Y our Roots takes a famous figure or celebrity and tr aces their family tree throughout events in history. Choose just one topic, view the video, then answer the questions on the worksheet related to the video. Questions need to be answered in complete sentences. Please place a heading with the subject at the top, list the number of the question, and your answer. There is no need to re -state the question s. Voices of Freedom response : Each chapter in your text book includes a section called “Voices of Freedom” which is a sample of 1-2 primary documents related to the subject matter. For this assignment you will choose one of these documents from the chapters included in the reflection as your focus. (For example, in Reflection #1, you will select one document total from chapters 15 -19 ). Once you have selected your document , read over it carefully, and write a reflection response that consists of the following (each paragraph should be 150 -200 words) Paragraph 1 – Introduce the primary document including the basic informat ion (date, author, position) and the historical timeframe or context for the purpose behind the document. Paragraph 2 – Describe how this document is a valuable source of information for this subject in history. What was life like during this time period and why? Include at least one question or issue that can still be debated on this topic in history. Paragraph 3 – Provide your own opinion or thoughts on whether you agree, disagree, or any other reflections you have after reading the document. Try to inc lude examples of things you learned in your reading or other assignments that led you to your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer here, just show that you have given the subject some thought. Please place a heading with the document title at the t op of your response. **In most cases you can find a Voices of Freedom document that relates to the same topic you chose for the Finding Your Roots worksheet. It is not required to have coordinating topics, however, it might be helpful or more interestin g as you complete the assignment. **Please remember your assignments will be submitted through a plagiarism software so please avoid copying of any kind.
