I deem the method as the cake, and the media as the icing, if you need a metaphor! In my teaching experience, it is essential to choose the media that best suits and aligns with ones instructional and learning objectives. It is critical to determine what you want to achieve in terms of the goals and big picture and then integrate the media or technological tools to facilitate the results. I do not think that a teacher should select media first.Next, if two media formats were shown to be equally effective for presenting your content, some factors that might cause you to choose one over the other include lesson/course or grade level appropriateness, which one aligns best with the students learning styles, which one suits the instructors attitudes and skill levels best? It is also vital to assess which one is best for time or resource constraints, which one best fulfills the learning objectives, and which one is most practical in terms of cost efficiency, time effectiveness, and most feasible to implement. I found some great tools for my high schoolers in grade 9 to use, but they often took weeks for them to learn how and master, but I only had a few days for that particular lesson!When comparing two types, I also must examine which one will work best in the particular room since the size of the group impacts the
viewing and hearing range as well as presentation style since it is important to evaluate which ones utilize motions, colors, videos, still pictures, written words, and how that delivery matches students learning styles, abilities/disabilities, etc.Next, as you briefly express how can different media help meet the needs of various types of learners, including those with special needs,

These examples show how media can keep students attention active and motivate them to engage deeper and actively with the content. They accommodate for challenges in learning style and differentiate the curriculum, which ESL/ELL and special needs learners require.Again, as you reiterate the relationship between principles of media utilization and student learning, a main principle that I embody into my teaching is that media is a key aspect of culture, so using it not only validates students unique cultures, which in turns validates them as people and learners, but also enhances socialization and collaborative learning. Media also encourages students to make critical, reflective, and democratic connections with course content, so this is another facet that I think is important. Another principle is that media reinforces skills for all learners and allows time for creative, critical, and independent practice with curricular content.Finally, as you insist on how does media aid in the design of instruction, I feel like it makes content more real world since we live in a media rich and technological aid. I also think that it fosters students critical and creative thinking skills as they apply media tools to make sense of what they are learning. It also allows students to be more autonomous in their learning because it allows the application of the content to be more student designed and driven. It enables students to express the content in multiple forms, not just singular, through multiple channels; this ability allows them to see topics from different viewpoints. I also feel like it expands the concepts of literacy, for example, allowing students to read, write, and discuss using interdisciplinary means.
